# News

The News widget streams market-relevant posts from curated sources (and up to 3 custom sources you add). It detects tickers and lets you execute quick buy/sell actions using the configured size buttons.

Items stream in live with near real-time delivery. Historical items are loaded when the widget initializes.

### **Display and Interaction**

* **Author** (handle or display name, depending on settings) + pfp
* **Timestamp and an age counter**
* **The post text:** click to open the original post's URL in a new tab
* **Ticker detection and price change tracking:**\
 (or default tickers if enabled) Tickers are extracted and displayed as tags (e.g. $BTC). Coin-specific source accounts automatically display their coin's ticker even when not explicitly mentioned in the post text. For live items, the widget can show the % price change from the timestamp. Price change tracking updates frequently for fresh items and less frequently for older ones. You may click only the ticker tag (e.g. $BTC) to link other components to it, e.g. to check the chart before trading.
* **Quick trading buttons per ticker (Buy/Sell rows, configurable)**\
 For each displayed ticker, use the Buy/Sell buttons to submit a quick order using the configured size. Sizes are configured in Settings and can be enabled/disabled individually (blank/0 disables).

### Sources Settings

* **Custom Sources**\
 You can add up to 3 custom X/Twitter sources. Enter a handle with or without `@` and click Add, remove custom sources with the remove button in the list.
* **Default Sources and Categories** \
 The default Sources are curated by us and are grouped into categories. Categories can be collapsed/expanded. The 'news' category is disabled by default as it tends to be high-volume. The 'coins' and 'crypto-media' categories have Filter enabled by default to reduce promotional/giveaway noise. The 'coins' category consists of the most important crypto coins by MCap, Volume, TVL, Activity etc. .
* **Per-category and Per-Source toggles**\
 Each category header provides toggles that apply to all sources in that category:\
 Active: Source enable for the feed\
 Notify: Source can trigger native OS notifications \
 Sound: Source can play the configured News sound\
 Filter: Items use a built-in filter mechanism to show only items matching important terms and buzzwords set in-app, in order to reduce noise. By default this Filter is on for Coin-Team-accounts so random tweets like "lol" are filtered. On the other side, it is deactivated by default for news accounts as they usually post important headlines only.

{% hint style="success" %}
The Filter in the Sources Settings is a separate and different mechanism to the custom Whitelist in the Component Settings.
{% endhint %}

### Component Settings

* **Buy/Sell Buttons:** Configure up to 4 size buttons. Each enabled size renders a Buy row and a Sell row per ticker. If a size is disabled, that button is not shown and cannot be clicked.
* **Button Size:** Adjust the vertical size of the Buy/Sell buttons to make rapid clicking easier.
* **Show News without $TICKER in Feed:** When enabled, items without detected tickers are still shown. When disabled, the feed only shows items that have detected tickers.
* **Show Buy/Sell Buttons for News without $TICKER:** When enabled, items without detected tickers can still show buttons by using Default Ticker(s) (see below).
* **Default Ticker(s):** Enter up to 3 default tickers separated by `;` (example: `BTC;ETH;SOL`). These tickers are used when an item has no detected tickers, so you can still react quickly to macro/news events.
* **Show Retweets / Show Replies:** Toggle whether retweets and replies should appear in the feed. Retweets are marked with "RETWEETS". Replies/threads are labeled with "REPLIES TO" followed by the original author.
* **Show only with the following words** (Whitelist): If set, an item is shown only when ANY of the keywords appears in the text. Separate keywords with `;`. Note: this is a custom filter different to the Filter Setting in the Sources menu.
* **Ignore news with the following words** (Blacklist): If set, an item is hidden when ANY of the keywords appears in the text. Separate keywords with `;`.
* **Notification Sound Active / Notification Sound:** Enable/disable News notification sounds and select the sound. Sound playback also depends on your global app sound setting.
* **Use account handle as author:** When enabled, the author line shows the @handle instead of the display name.
