FAQ and Important Information

Disclaimer

Users utilise Insilico Terminal at their own risk. Insilico Terminal does not take any responsibility for any losses users might incur trading on the Terminal either from the user actions (a bad trade, liquidation) or for bugs/glitches in the software. Obviously we have taken every possible precaution to eliminate bugs and we think the clean track record of the Terminal demonstrates our commitment to that. We also have added a 'fat finger' prevention setting that can help against take a bad position if you want. Further anything that is communicated in the Terminal’s documentation, communication channels (Discord, Twitter) or other educational material (Videos) is not financial advice.

Why should I use Insilico Terminal?

If you become a successful trader, you will need better execution. Better execution means a reliable and intuitive user interface, advanced order execution in better entry and exit prices and less slippage (the difference of the expected price of a market order and the price of execution) as well as lower latency (faster connection than other traders using an exchange’s native UI). Insilico Terminal is made for traders and provides you with exactly these advantages in the market. There are a lot of other more advanced reasons why an advanced trader may want and honestly should absolutely use sophisticated execution software like Terminal.

Is the Terminal for free?

Yes, the terminal is free to use. We have brokerage deals with exchanges which are comparable to referral link structure deals. It's an enormous benefit for exchanges to provide a better trading environment for their customers and so they compensate us for the volume we bring in. We make better software, traders are happy, exchanges are happy.

(This makes sense for exchanges because when retail traders get better execution, and pass less slippage the lifetime value of accounts goes up! It is a very rare positive sum outcome in which everybody wins.)

Is Insilico Terminal secure?

Security is of utmost importance to us. Your API keys are only stored in your own browser (and not on our server) and they are double encrypted using a key unique to you. This is why you have to reenter them every time you change your browser or device. We don’t store anything about you on our servers other than the email+password you login with (which is held with Auth0). We feel this system is reasonably impractical to be penetrated or hacked. A leak of your API keys like it happened for 3commas is not possible. Aditonally you can enable 2FA. For further details on security please see this information on Security.

Is my trading data such as positions and stop losses being collected, communicated or used?

No.

How stable is the Terminal?

The Terminal hasn't been offline for a very long time: https://insilicoterminal.appsignal-status.com/ .

We have put tremendous effort into eliminating any source of lag within the terminal. We have also updated our server infrastructre bigly over the last months. The Terminal will be fast and lag-free even in most extreme volatile conditions.

Is the Terminal down/offline? The Terminal doesn’t work for me, what can I do?

The Terminal very likely is online, most problems happen on the user side. Please try to refresh / hard refresh the page, this usually solves the majority of problems with the web app. Also make sure you are using the correct URL, which is https://insilicoterminal.com/ . However if you further experience any issues, please open a support ticket in the discord.

Terminal doesn’t connect / I get an error message in the Terminal

Have you followed all necessary steps for creating an API key according to the documentation? In general please make sure your system is stable and running on correct settings with a correct system time. If you have an issue with the API not connecting and you are using Brave, try to close the browser and reopen it. If you are using a VPN, please check its settings or turn it off. If you run the Terminal from inside another app, we cannot guarantee flawless performance; any issues occurring are beyond our team's control. We recommend to run the Terminal in its own dedicated browser tab. If your API keys are not being saved in your browser and the Terminal regularly asks you to reenter them, please make sure that you have not enabled auto delete of site data and cookies.

All my Accounts / API keys are gone, what happened?

Your API keys are stored in your browser only. Have you (accidentally) deleted/cleared your browser data/cache/cookies? If so, you need to read your API keys.

Will the Team of Insilico Terminal approach/contact me?

No. No staff of the Terminal will directly approach, DM or email you. Especially anyone with the name „Insilico" who is a user should be muted/ignored. On other servers there are a lot of bots currently using the name "Inisilico Whitelist" (and variants). We'd never choose names like that, and they're just bots. If you get offered PROMOS, DEAL, SIGN-UPS...etc by anyone from this discord server, please report them immediately.

Futures/Derivatives:

Support BYBIT spot trading, already supported on Biance

We do an extensive review process before adding any further exchange, but things are currently in the works!

What features will be implemented next?

Tradingview Chart, position size - / risk calculator, more advances ordering, and many more!

What are the differences between Classic and Multi mode?

The Classic mode is a single straightforward trading interface ready to use. It has less possibilities for customisation and you don’t need to link anything. In Multi mode you can have multiple chart tabs and multiple components of the same type and you can arrange and link them all the way you want. For example you could trade multiple tickers simultaneously in the same window, or you can display a 15min chart and orderbook for bitcoin while scalping your favourite altcoin.

Can I use the Terminal on my phone or any mobile device?

Yes, just head over to our mainpage, login and re-enter your API key on your new device (see why). The functionality is essentially the same as in the web browser version on your computer, for details please see here.

I want to suggest a new feature / new functionalities.

Please use the feature-discussion channel in the discord for this.
